Cupcake Interlude

Last night, around 7pm, I had a spontaneous urge to eat a cupcake. Not having any open cupcake shop options in the general vicinity, I resolved to make them myself. Roughly one hour (and one exceptionally messy kitchen) later, I had a dozen cupcakes ready for consumption. So satisfying.

I used the Butter Lane Cupcakes recipe, which are hands down the best cupcakes in the nation. If you live in and/or visit New York you really need to get yourself to a shop as quickly as possible. Be warned, they are dangerously good. I used to live around the corner from the East Village Butter Lane shop and since moving away I have been craving those cupcakes non-stop.

It may not look like much, but this cupcake was (almost) as good as the ones I remember from the city. Moist and dense and delicious. Mmmmmm
