The City

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

It's only this time of year that I miss living in New York. When the rest of the country is starting to look toward fall and here in Texas we're still firmly planted in summer, no matter how many pumpkins the stores are trying to sell. Autumn is by far my favorite season, and New York in the fall is nearly magical. The leaves change their colors, the parks are full of families, and weekends host block parties and farmer's markets on around every corner. Even in the city there's a bustle of preparation for a long winter ahead.

Texas autumns are just as sweet, but so much shorter. Still, I'm looking forward to the end of the month, when the heat will start to break. By October, we'll have wisps of fall weather and spices in the air. In the meantime, I'm dreaming of the city, and a fall which has already begun.
