Into the Swing

And . . . Breathe out.

Turns out I've needed a whole month's break from this space. I've been busy re-structuring my life around a new schedule, enjoying many mild Spring-like days, and planning for what's to come. I think I'm ready to get back to blogging.

I have a backlog of pictures from my trip to Vienna that I'm eager to share and many other goings on as well. (Early seedlings for the spring garden germinating? Yes, yes.) The juxtaposition of the seasons is a common theme in a Texas winter. One day can be a high of 40 degrees and sadly overcast while the next dawns bright and sunny, warming up to 75. And then there's the range of seasons in the US. Just last January I was staring out my window in New York wondering if spring would ever come and now I'm back in Texas and our spring is just around the corner.

I've enjoyed the change for the most part, spending free moments sitting out in the sun and planning my new garden (Tomatoes this year, I think. And basil. I don't want to go one more day without fresh pesto.) But I must admit there have been a few pangs of jealousy as my NYU friends post pictures of themselves frolicking in several feet of fresh snow. I'm grateful to have experienced a few snowy Viennese days in December and I am storing my memories (and pictures) for the moments when I miss real winters, in all their dreary glory.

  1. I love the photo! I can't imagine missing winter now though, I am pretty much over this one :) spring is still far off.

Can't wait to see more photos of Vienna! I completely understand the need to take a break--better to give yourself that than to burn out!
